Sally Powrie
I am a wife, mother of 5, mother-in-law of 2, grandmother of 2, general practitioner of more than 20 years standing, and for the last 4 years I have been writing. I began with writing children's books - I have written two novels for teens, and a picture story book for little children. I am still in the hopeful stage of looking for a publisher for my books.
I studied medicine at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and have continued to live in Cape Town since then.
My areas of greatest experience include general practice medicine, family issues, parenting, and I have also read widely in terms of history for which I have a great love, and so feel that I am able to tackle many historical subjects. I am passionate about education and feel that in a country like South Africa, we are really only going to see progress when we have really wide-spread education. I love literature, not least of all - Children's literature, and I love to promote children's literature and reading amongst our children. But then that really is basically one subject with the education.
